It’s not uncommon to second-guess a significant decision. Women do it all the time when choosing to have an abortion. If you’ve taken the first drug in the abortion pill regimen and now regret your decision, you may be able to reverse its effects with Abortion Pill Reversal.
What Is Abortion Pill Reversal (APR)?
Mifepristone, the first drug in the abortion pill regimen, blocks progesterone in your body. Without progesterone, your pregnancy will end. Abortion Pill Reversal floods your body with the progesterone it needs in an attempt to counteract mifepristone’s effects and continue your pregnancy.
APR has the best chance of success if started within 24-48 hours of taking mifepristone; however, there have been successful reversals when treatment is started within 72 hours.
Even if 72 hours have passed, you should still seek help. It may not be too late to save your pregnancy.
How Do I Start APR?
If you’ve taken mifepristone and regret your decision, don’t delay. Time is of the essence. Here are the steps you should take:
- Call the APR Helpline at (877) 558-0333 or visit their website.
- An on-call Healthcare Professional will ask some basic questions to see if reversal is possible.
- You are then connected with a doctor or medical provider in your area to start treatment immediately.
You can also call Alpha Women’s Center at (269) 948-9013 during normal business hours. We will give you referrals for APR providers near you.
Is APR Safe?
Progesterone is a natural hormone that the body produces normally during pregnancy. Progesterone is safe and effective and has been used during pregnancy, menopause, and for infertility for decades.
There is no apparent increase in birth defects according to study findings.
What Is the Success Rate?
There is a 64-68% success rate if started within 24-48 hours of taking mifepristone. However, successful reversals have occurred within 72 hours.
